I recently filmed and recorded this cover of Desperado by The Eagles with Amy Griffiths in Leeds Train Station. Bit of an interesting recording in a public space which is busy and loud, and I used a super compact recording set up - with just a Zoom H4n and a Neumann TLM102. There was no power, and I was only permitted one cable!
Earlier this year I recorded a live version of Becky Bowe’s track “that’s how love works” with Declan Creffield on video. We recorded it in Declan’s little studio in Leeds city centre. I also produced the single verison of this, which you can check out here.
Over summer I engineered a few shows with Tallsaint, one of which was Leeds Festival. We were on the Festival Republic Stage and the D&B array sounded fantastic, and using an Avid profile for the first time was surprisingly comfortable!
Another recent live session I recorded with Olivie Ferrara on video. This time for Hannah Lamb in the Venue at Leeds College of Music.
This is the second track by Cara Hammond that I’ve had the pleasure of working on. Written by Cara with two guys out in Copenhagen and then recorded over here by a mix of myself and Frankie Harper.
One of the latest singles I’ve produced was for an Indie rock band called Askies. They’re a fantastic young band and working with them was a blast. I had the pleasure of doing FOH for them recently too, and they were fantastic. Definitely check them out, and hopefully I’ll have the pleasure of working with them again soon!
My band Loux recorded a new live session! It was super fun playing on this one, which is our latest single, cool. We filmed this in an old Marks & Spencers building in Bradford, which had a super low ceiling, but was an enormous room. Getting the drum sound right was tough and took a bit of work, but it was really fun to record and mix.
I’ve been working on a few live videos recently with a good pal of mine, Joe Collinson, and this is one of our latest films for Sunflower Thieves, a lovely band from Derbyshire. It was filmed in a rehearsal space in Prospect Studios in Bradford.
I’ve done a load of work with Tallsaint recently, from being their touring FOH Engineer to recording their tracks. Here’s their latest single which i recorded some of in my studio in Leeds. They’re bloody fantastic x
I recorded this recently for The Red Canary Dance Band, using a load of vintage 20s/ 30s drums and cymbals. It was a ton of fun trying to make a song sound like it was recorded 60 years ago, and was a really cool learning experience for me too!
